So happy to get to help with beautiful Kristen's Columbus, Ohio wedding over Memorial Day weekend.  Kristen and I have a "past"--many, many moons ago.... Kristen's mom, Molly, was my 7th Grade Spanish Teacher and we became fast friends, I started babysitting for Kristen as I got older and went on vacations with them to Hilton Head, SC. The Mautz family is a great family and they have raised an amazing daughter and she was a gorgeous bride and is an awesome person-so sweet and genuine. And she's an expert golfer...seriously. I can only hope she'll give my daughter lessons someday so she can be an excellent golfer too...there is NO hope for me as a golfer!

Anyways, the Bride and Groom live in Arizona so we were all planning long distance! But, I do think it turned out perfectly and I'm so honored to have been the planner of choice for this One Fine Day!

kristen + kelly, 5.24.09- Part II

The celebration continued at the Crowne Plaza Downtown Columbus, Ohio in the Nationwide Arena District. And the staff and facility were lovely to work with! 4944_699710537434_12300012_41212833_6279975_n

They had great toasts-kept the guests entertained.

The groom offered a toast to his beautiful bride (which I ADORE when they do that!) But, a very special moment was had when the Groom paid tribute to his Grandfather who is a Veteran of war on this special Memorial Day and it was so moving when all the guests stood up to give him a standing ovation. Loved it! So sweet.

The couples first dance.....started out sweet and lovely.

Then, the first dance SURPRISE, got wild into a super fun choreographed dance! The dance floor was never empty the rest of the night!

Congratulations Kristen & Kelly!

One last photo (yep, these snapshots are by One Fine Day, and I know we don't hold a candle to professional pictures, but we LOVE to take pictures for instant gratification for us and the bride to enjoy....it's on our to do list for every wedding-gotta love it!) Anyways, I thought this was too cute, not to share- These are their party favors at each guests place setting...see...since the Groom's last name is Cook, it seemed oh so appropriate for Cook's Champagne to be given to everyone to celebrate this great day! Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Cook!

elegantly bound books

People are getting more and more creative when it comes to guestbooks these days! There are tons of wonderful ideas out there ranging from fish bowls filled with wishes to guestbooks where people can sign next to a picture taken at the ceremony or reception!

For a new take on a more traditional option, Kelly has started her own business creating these Elegantly Bound Books!

Il_155x125 Il_155x125  Il_155x125 P1050384 P1060384_8jw0 Bind

I love them for several reasons:

    a. They are super cute.

    b. The cover can be personalized to your wedding!

    c. You can put a picture on the left side! Guests love looking at the pictures and are more likely to

sign when you have photos in the book. Plus it makes the book much more personal.

    d. Guests write thier name and give you a wish! These wishes are kept nice and neat in a book that

surely will draw attention on any bookshelf!

    e. All of these combined will make your guestbook something you will love looking at for years

        to come!

You can also find Kelly's books on Etsy.

Hope you all enjoy these as much as I do!

delicious invitations

Hello all! This is Mackenzie's intern Shelby again! While searching over 1,000's of google pages looking for Black and White Lollipops, I came across these edible invitations!

Each lollipop comes in it's own box and packaged in black tissue. They even suggest keeping one as a cake topper! Too cute!

something OLD, new, borrowed, blue

Along the same lines as our 'something blue' post...

Something Old represents the bride's past and it's continuance into her new life.

Some of our fun ideas for Something Old include:

-Your mother's wedding band on your right ring finger

-Your grandmother's wedding photo in a silver locket (your "something new" could be your engagement picture on the other side!)

- A family members old clutch purse

Purse

-Classic or vintage car

Car

-Your mother's wedding cake topper (this would work great if your entire wedding had a vintage theme)

Topper

Sometimes the wonderful, and very appreciated family jewelry given to brides today may not be exactly what they had in mind. There are several ways to almost transform the jewelry to make it your own.

-If you are given a ring with a style a little different from yours, visit a local jeweler! There are tons of ways to change and customize any piece of jewelry and you can be as creative as you want! Not very creative? Typically the jeweler is! They usually will have great ideas that turn out looking outstanding!

-Pearls are a very common gift to a new bride and you may not think there are a lot of ways to change them since they are not metal. However, you can do a lot with a strand of pearls! Not only can you re-string them and have them cleaned, you can turn them into another piece of jewelry. A bracelet or two could look beautiful if you already had another necklace in mind. You could also create earrings or a ring out of pearls! The important thing it is to keep the sentiment, but create something you will truly enjoy wearing.

the castle post

The dreams of having a fairy tale princess wedding to prince charming, in a beautiful castle can now come true!

For those that have grown up in Kentucky or lived here for years, the castle in Versailles has been something we have all admired. Thankfully, the new owner remodeled and turned The Castle Post into one of the most beautiful venues in the state.

The Castle Post is open nightly as a bed and breakfast and it is open for events and weddings as well!

We were fortunate enough to visit The Castle Post for the May Association of Bridal Consultants meeting. Great meeting by the way! The entire facility is beautiful! The outside has a tennis court, small lap pool, a basketball court and of course a fountain to greet you before you go inside!

The inside was beautiful as well!!! Every room was decorated perfectly and the details were amazing. Here are a few pictures!

solid neckties

DSCN8725_c

This picture (from the cute blog The ParTeaPlanner) makes me happy for a whole number of reasons.

First of all, I ADORE individual hand out butler passed hors d'oeurves!  I'm personally not a fan of a big giant cheese/fruit/veggie table as a pre-dinner treat--because I don't like how it looks when it gets devoured in the first few minutes of a reception and then it doesn't look pretty the rest of the reception and we all know, I'm all about "the pretty". And people often mound up their little plate and get full on this appetizer before a superb dinner is about to come out....

So, I love that these cute little crudite cups are # 1 cute! I love them, # 2 crowd pleasers-not many people don't like veggies and dip and most importantly # 3 when they are "gone" it's not ugly, it's neat and clean. OK, so that is just one little piece of my love for this picture.

The real reason for my post is because I love the smallest details that can personalize an event. And I adore that these waiters at this event are wearing matching neckties. Seriously--how cute if you are having hot pink linens to have the catering staff to be matching in solid hot pink neckties too or any color. And so you think, that's pretty expensive--not necessarily so....if you have 15 servers and you buy these solid neckties that's only an investment of less than $60! Some people spend more than that on their plain old unity candle...so save money there by buying a simple pillar candle for $10 and splurge with this great detail of the too cute matching catering attire.  Better even still, they have over 54 colors to choose from! Love it!

old, new, borrowed, BLUE

These days brides are being more creative than ever. The traditional something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue is still being observed, but in new and creative ways!

I love the idea of experimenting with the "something blue". Some new and exciting ways to incorporate it are...

  • Jewelry- Wearing jewelry with hints of blue is a great way to accessorize and add a little flair to your wedding day attire. These earrings from LeVian are stunning!

132513209_MV_PD_JAR

A fun ring would also be great!

  • Glue a few blue Swarovski ccrystals to the label of your dress! Only a select few would know about your discreet something blue, but that makes it even more special!

  • A light blue pedicure would also be a discreet yet adorable way to incorporate the saying!

very cute dinnerware.

Hello all! This is Shelby...Mackenzie's new intern. My lovely friend and previous intern Lindsey has moved to sunny Tampa, but thankfully she introduced me to Mackenzie before she left!

Today I was doing research for Mackenzie when I came across the cutest personalized dishware, Jessica Rust Designs.

Some of the products can be seen here:

As you can see they have very cute nature designs, but she also has a tattoo design that would be unique for a non-traditional bride!
